Crumble Ingredients1/4 cup Brown sugar
2 Tb Flour
1/4 tsp Salt
1/8 tsp Ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp Ground nutmeg
2 Tb Butter
1/4 cup Chopped almonds
1/4 cup Old fashioned oats
Cherry Cake Ingredients1 1/2 cups Flour
1/2 cup Sugar
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Baking powder
1/4 tsp Baking soda
1/4 cup Butter
1 Egg, lightly beaten
3/4 cup Buttermilk
1 tsp Vanilla
1 cup Fresh or frozen cherries, pitted and chopped
Oven Temp ~ 350°
Baking Time ~
Pan Type ~ 11 x 6 3/4 inch pan
To make the Crumble: stir together first 5 ingredients. Add
butter using pastry blender, mix well. Add almonds and oats, mix then set aside.
To make the Cherry Cake: sift first 5 ingredients, add butter, then mix (with the pastry blender) until ingredients resemble coarse crumbs. In a small bowl lightly beat the egg, buttermilk and vanilla. Add to dry ingredients, fold until smooth. Pour cherry cake batter into prepared pan.
Scatter cherries over the batter. Sprinkle CRUMBLE evenly over top of cake batter. Bake Cherry Crumble Cake until cake has risen and golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool for 25 minutes.
