Pan Type ~ 4-inch round and a 9-inch round pan, |
Preheat oven, grease and flour pans. Can
use large cupcake tins and make into baseballs instead of cake.
Prepare the cake batter according to package directions.
Pour 1/2 cup batter into the small round and remaining into the 9" round
pan. Bake small round for 20 minutes and round cake for 45 minutes. Transfer
to wire racks; cool 10 minutes. Turn cakes onto rack; cool completely.

Using this design to help cut glove shape from 9" round cake.
For the mocha frosting, beat together
confectioners' sugar, butter, liqueur, milk and espresso powder until
smooth.
Decorating the Cake
Frost glove cake with mocha frosting. Press crushed cookie crumbs onto the
side of the cake.
Trim the 4" cake to look like a baseball. Place trimmed cake onto the center
of the glove cake and frost it with the prepared white frosting.
Spoon remaining white frosting into a resealable plastic bag. Snip one of
the corners with scissors to make a small hole. Squeeze bag and pipe
frosting around top and bottom of cake and along fingers of glove. Pipe a
few Xs along bottom edge to represent stitching.
Cut licorice laces into pieces and decorate ball to look like stitching.
