Easy to make Herman Chocolate Cream Cake. A moist and delicious treat using Herman Starter and cultured sour cream.
1 cup Herman Starter
1/2 cup Water
3/4 cup Cultured sour cream
1 1/3 cups Flour
1/2 cup Dry milk
1/2 cup Margarine
1 cup Sugar
3/4 tsp Salt
1 1/2 tsp Baking soda
1 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
4 squares Semi-sweet chocolate, melted
1 tsp Vanilla
Oven Temp ~ 350°
Baking Time ~ 45 -
Pan Type ~ two 8 inch pans
Combine the Herman starter, water,
sour cream, flour and dry milk.
Put in a warm place (80-90 degrees) to ferment for 3 hours.
After the 3 hours, cream together the margarine, sugar, salt, soda and cinnamon.
Beat in the eggs one at a time.
Stir in melted chocolate and vanilla.
Combine the sour cream mixture with the sugar and butter mix, beat at low speed until well blended.
Pour into prepared cake pans (or one 9x13 inch cake pan).
Bake Herman chocolate cream cake, testing with a toothpick until it comes out clean from center of cake.
Cool on cake racks.
