An adopted recipe, I have made this Almond Coffee Cake ahead when having company over, makes for an easy breakfast. This almond coffee cake makes a wonderful special Christmas treat to share with friends.
A great moist coffee cake.

1 cup regular flour
1 stick (1/2 cup) butter
2 Tablespoons cold water
1 cup water
Coffee Cake Batter
1 stick (1/2 cup) butter
1 cup regular flour
4 eggs
2 Tablespoons almond flavoring
1/2 cup almonds (sliced)
1 cup Red and Green glazed cherries

powdered sugar *

Oven Temp ~ 375°
Baking Time ~
Recipe Pan Type ~ pizza pan
Almond Coffee Cake Crust Directions:

Spray pan with non-stick cooking spray.

In a large bowl cut together the flour and butter until mixture resembles course flour. Add water and mix into a ball.
Place onto pizza pan and pat your crust until pan is covered.
Set aside.

Christmas Almond Coffee Cake Directions:

Heat butter and water in large sauce pan, bring to a boil.
Add flour all at once and beat until it forms a ball.
Remove from heat and beat in eggs, one at a time.
Pour almond coffee cake mixture over the crust and bake.
Remove coffee cake from oven and drizzle with glaze made from powdered sugar and milk.
Top with almonds and cherries.

* mix enough powdered sugar and milk together until it reaches drizzling consistency.

When Baking with Butter:

Room temperature butter in the cake batter is one of the biggest cake baking mistakes. In fact, butter must be below 68° to trap air molecules and build structure. Cake flour is milled from soft wheat that has a lower gluten content and higher starch content than all-purpose flour. It helps to ensure a fluffy texture in cakes and pastries. A substitute for cake flour is to use all-purpose flour, but reduce the amount by 2 tablespoons per cup.
