2 1/2 cups All-purpose flour
1 cup Granulated sugar
3/4 cup Brown sugar, packed
1 tsp Baking powder
1 tsp Soda
1 tsp Salt
3/4 tsp Cinnamon (spice)
3/4 tsp Allspice (spice)
1/2 tsp Cloves (spice)
1/2 tsp Nutmeg (spice)
1 1/3 cups Buttermilk
1/2 cup Shortening
Oven Temp ~ 350°
Baking Time ~
Pan Type ~ 8 or 9 inch layer pan
Measure all ingredients into large mixer bowl. Blend 1/2
minute on low speed, scraping bowl sides occasionally. Pour buttermilk spice cake batter into pan.
Bake spice cake until wooden toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Cool buttermilk spice cake for 10 minutes. Remove cake from pans.
