Melting caramels and drizzling over the top of a chocolate cake that has been layered with chopped chocolate and mini marshmallows. Makes a spectacular finish to any day.
1 package (8 squares) Semi-sweet baking chocolate, chopped
10 Tablespoons Butter or margarine
2/3 cup Sugar
1 tsp Vanilla
1/3 cup Flour
1/4 tsp Salt
2 Tablespoons Milk
1 cup Miniature Marshmallows
Oven Temp ~ 350°
Baking Time ~
Pan Type ~ 9 inch round or springform cake pan
Microwave 1 cup of the chopped chocolate and butter in a large microwaveable bowl, on
high 2 minutes or until butter is melted. Stir until chocolate is completely
melted. Add sugar, mix well. Blend in the eggs and vanilla. Add flour and salt,
stir until well blended. Pour torte cake batter into prepared pan.
Bake torte cake until toothpick inserted in center comes out with fudge like crumbs. (Do not over bake.) Cool in pan 5 minutes. Run small knife around side of pan to loosen cake. Invert cake onto serving platter. Remove and discard parchment paper. Cool cake slightly.
Microwave caramels and milk in medium microwaveable bowl on high 2 minutes or until caramels begin to melt. Stir until caramels are completely melted. Sprinkle marshmallows and remaining chopped chocolate over Chocolate Caramel Torte cake. Drizzle with caramel mixture.
